We provide our community meet-ups and flourish programme for free in exchange for community members committing to giving 1% of their income to our chosen charities. Why does Kin_e only support high impact charities? We believe that donors money should be used as effectively with full transparency on where your money has gone. Many large-scale charities have high cost bases where a lot of money is spent on marketing or organization costs. They usually can't provide full transparency on where your donation money has gone and they don't have the rigour of only putting money into interventions that have a real impact. A lot of their focus is on keeping donors happy rather than ensuring the beneficiaries have received the full benefit of their support in a safe respectful environment. Here is an article below from a beneficiary in the US trying to explain how she felt she was treated by traditional charities.

Bobbi Dempsey writes that her family felt pressured to display the Goldilocks “just right” level of poverty. Social service providers often unwittingly pressure clients to “perform” their pain and gratitude to prove they deserve assistance. Many assistance programs rely on cookie-cutter solutions and treat the poor monolithically, ignoring the circumstances and causes of their need.
Give Directly and the charities supported by 1fortheworld are different. They put the beneficiaries at the heart of everything they do. They treat people with respect and empower them to life themselves out of extreme poverty. They want to create lasting change and so they careful assess their work to ensure it continues to have an impact in the most effective way. They are fully transparent when something goes wrong so that other charities can learn from their mistakes.
